Baptism
"As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ." (1 Corinthians 12:12)Parishioners who want to have their child celebrate the sacrament of baptism at St. Mary’s Cathedral should remember that:
- They must be validly married in the Catholic Church;
- They must be a registered parishioner for at least three months at the Cathedral prior to the request;
- The Godparents must be practicing Catholics who are confirmed and no younger than 16 years of age (one person may be a baptized Christian in another Christian denomination, but then is only a witness to the baptism);
- They must take part in our Baptismal Preparation evening.
- If you are planning a baptism you must first call the office and speak with Fr. Michael.
